On top of it, the velvety smooth honey lime dressing adds magic to this melon and pineapple salad making it even more tempting.
I am sure once you try this, you will not have your melons and pineapple in any other way!
Ingredients for Melon and pineapple salad
Watermelon: This fruit is one of the two showstopper ingredients of this summer special fruit salad! The bright red color of watermelon adds vibrancy to the salad, as well as its sweetness complements the tanginess of pineapple beautifully!
Pineapple: Another equally important star of the show is of course pineapple – the master of the tropical fruits! This melon and pineapple salad is a brilliant way to serve pineapple as it may not be liked by many on its own!
Muskmelon: This one was not my personal favorite which is why I used to avoid it on its own but in this melon and pineapple salad, this adds a perfect body and taste. The general bland taste of cantaloupe gets a makeover thanks to the delicious dressing!
Honey: Use a good quality organic honey for the best taste. This is a key ingredient of salad dressing and must be mixed in well.
Lime: Freshly squeezed lime juice is what you need for this salad dressing. This adds freshness and balances the strong sweetness of honey.
Pro tip: You can play around with the amount of honey and lime juice by tasting in between: if you like it more on the sweeter side, use less amount of lime juice; if you like your salad tangy, use less of honey!
Walnuts: This nut will add a much desired crunch to the soft & juicy salad. I love walnuts which is why I added them; feel free to add any nut of your choice!
How to make Melon and pineapple salad
Step 1: First prepare all the fruits – watermelon, muskmelon and pineapple. Peel the watermelon and cut it in 1-inch cubes. Peel pineapple and remove the core, then cut the flesh into 1-inch cubes. Peel and cut the muskmelon into 1-inch cubes too.
Step 2: Take all the fruits in a large mixing bowl. Keep them in the refrigerator while you make the honey lime salad dressing.
Step 3: Take a small mixing bowl and add honey, lime juice and a pinch of salt to bring out the flavor of both. Give a good whisk using a fork or a wire whisk.
Step 4: Now take out the fruit bowl from the refrigerator and drizzle the prepared honey lime salad dressing on top.
Step 5: Using 2 salad mixers, toss the fruits to evenly distribute the dressing allowing each fruit cube to be infused with the sweet & tangy liquid.
Step 6: Once the salad is nicely mixed, sprinkle the chopped walnut to add that much needed crunch to your velvety smooth fruit salad.
Step 7: Finally, garnish with freshly chopped mint leaves and serve the salad immediately or slightly chilled.
