Ingredients
  • Button mushrooms – 400 gms
  • Garlic – 12 to 15 cloves, about 2 tbsp grated
  • Olive oil – 2 tbsp
  • Unsalted butter – 2 tbsp
  • Dried oregano – 1 tsp
  • Dried thyme – 1 tsp
  • Dried basil – 1 tsp
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes to sprinkle on top, optional
Instructions
  1. Clean each button mushroom by wiping them with a damp kitchen towel. I do not wash the mushrooms in water as they soak too much water and becomes too soggy in texture. Take your time to wipe each mushroom separately to get rid of all dirt. Also trim any woody end of the stalk.
  2. Hear the butter in a skillet. Also drizzle the olive oil to ensure butter doesn’t burn. Add the grated garlic and sauté for 10 seconds on low. Make sure garlic doesn’t burn.
  3. Now add the cleaned mushrooms and sauté them on medium flame. Try to arrange the mushrooms in a single layer on the skillet to ensure even cooking.
  4. Let the mushrooms cook undisturbed for 5 minutes on medium-low flame. Then give them a stir and let the other sides cook too. It would take about 12 to 15 minutes to completely cook the mushrooms.
  5. Once the mushrooms are cooked and become fork-tender, sprinkle dried herbs – oregano, thyme & basil. Also season it with salt & pepper to taste.
  6. Shake the skillet to mix the herbs uniformly, give a final stir and your butter garlic mushroom is ready to serve! Transfer them to a serving platter and sprinkle some pepper flakes if you like the extra-kick! Enjoy!
